DirecTV is a satellite television provider that is a wonderful alternative to digital cable services if you really hate that sort of thing. When start up your services, there are packages and equipment to order because sundials won’t work in this situation. After this you will be responsible to pay the monthly fee for these services. Sometimes, for whatever reason, you have to cancel these services. Maybe it’s the prices or customer service? Or maybe it’s the burger wrappers they left on your lawn — whatever.
Below is a list of details of what you have to do to cancel these services.
- Phone or Internet Connection
- Your DirecTV Account Number
Currently there is no way to close out your account or cancel any services that are ordered via the DirecTV website. Why? Because they have a crew called Account Retention whose job is to keep you from leaving. Get ready for some sweet deals if you stay on with DirecTV. They’ll usually give you a few months free or at least heavily discounted.
The first thing you will need to do is find your account number and a recent bill. This will help you choose which options you wish to cancel or if you need to terminate all of your services.
Canceling or changing your account can be done two ways, the first is by phone. Here are the types of accounts and the numbers you will need to use for each type of account.
General Support Phone Numbers:
This is the number an individual household subscriber would use 1-800-531-5000

The other method is canceling it on line via e-mail or web form. The address for DirecTV is http://www.directv.com. Go to the “Help” option at the bottom of the page. Then choose “Contact Us” and then a list of ways to contact them including live chat.
Remember; check your contract, for you may have to pay an early cancelation fee.
