It looks like 2008 is shaping up to be the year of HD with satellite services. After DirecTV launched over 100 channels in HD in 2007, DISH Network has announced that they will have over 100 channels in HD this year as well as offering more interactive content and on demand.
Choosing between the two can be a hard decision because it seems like both services are constantly coming out with new channels in HD almost daily. Here are some things to keep in mind when deciding which satellite company to go with.
DirecTV has Sports, Sports and More Sports
If you are really into sports and looking for the best sports programming in HD I would recommend going with DirecTV. NFL Sunday Ticket is currently signed exclusively with DirecTV and provides subscribers with an incredible amount of games and football coverage in HD. They have similar packages for other sports as well such as NFL Center Ice, NBA League Pass, MLB Extra Innings, and Nascar HotPass. They even have packages for less popular sports such as Cricket, Soccer and Rugby. When you sign up for DirecTV online you get every premium channel free for 3 months.
DISH Network is Great for the Family
If you are looking getting the best deal on satellite I recommend checking out DISH Networks HD Selection. When it comes to price, DISH Network generally always has the upper hand. The content is just as good and if you are a new subscriber you should be able to get a great deal that includes a Free DVR and Free Premium Channels for x amount of months.
Most of my friends have been switching to DISH in recent months not only because of the price but because of the very family oriented packages that they offer. DISH also takes the win for family oriented HD content.
We recommend signing up for DISH Network through AllSat.
Although the tides are constantly changing in the HD war, for the most part DirecTV is better if you love sports, where as DISH is better if you have a family and have to watch the content thats on your TV as well as your budget.
